Muir Pass Tarns, High Sierra

Several tarns lie in a rocky basin below the peaks near Muir Pass in the High Sierra.

July in the High Sierra, and the snowmelt was still feeding the tarns below Muir Pass. The sky was a deep blue, and the air was clear enough to see for miles across the treeless landscape.
