Pine tree and sunrise

Vermillion Valley Resort is familiar to JMT and PCT hikers. I resupplied at MTR when I did this section of the JMT, so I didn't know how good VVR is. I have read legendary reviews about customer service there. I have also wanted to visit them after Creek Fire and last year's drought. Pictured here is a pine tree at sunrise, as the sun rises over Recess Peak.

September at Lake Edison, and the morning sun was just cresting the ridge. The thin layer of fog on the lake surface diffused the light, but the sunstar through the pine needles was sharp.
