Minarets and Iceberg Lake
The Minarets are a series of jagged peaks located in the Ritter Range, a sub-range of the Sierra Nevada, in California. They are viewed from Minaret Summit, a short drive from Mammoth Lakes. They are also seen from some high points along the Hwy 395, if you know what you are looking for. The best place to see them up close is at Iceberg lake, which is about 10 miles from the Agnew Meadows trailhead and this is a great one night backpacking destination. Pictured here are the Minarets and their reflection in Iceberg lake, just after sunrise.
August in the Ansel Adams Wilderness, and the mosquitoes were still out in force at Thousand Island Lake. The lake surface was perfectly still, and the Minarets were perfectly reflected in the water.
