Peak near Silver Pass, Sierra

A granite peak rises above a forest of pines under a partly cloudy sky in the Sierra Nevada.

Hiking near Silver Pass in the Sierra Nevada in July, I was struck by the contrast between the bare granite peak and the dense forest of pines at its base, all under a bright summer sky.
