Recess Peak Sunrise

Vermillion Valley Resort is familiar to JMT and PCT hikers. I resupplied at MTR when I did this section of the JMT, so I didn't know how good VVR is. I have read legendary reviews about customer service there. I have also wanted to visit them after Creek Fire and last year's drought. Photographed here is the sun rise illuminating the Recess Peak range with dramatic clouds in the sky and Lake Edison in the foreground.

September in the Sierra Nevada, and the golden hour light was hitting just the tops of the peaks across the lake. The water was still enough to reflect the clouds overhead, but there was a slight breeze.
