Sierra Nevada Alpine Lake

A small alpine lake sits nestled in a rocky cirque in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

July in the High Sierra, and the snowmelt was still feeding this little lake. The surrounding granite slopes were mostly barren, but a few tenacious trees clung to the edges of the basin.
