

Valley view sunset
During winter, the clouds in Yosemite national park create shadows over the mountains. In this photograph, El Capitan and Cathedral rocks are seen amdist dramatic shadows. Valley view is a popular vista point in Yosemite National Park, along Northside drive. From this vantage point, you can see El Capitan, Bridalvel falls and a portion of Half dome, along with the South Rim. During sunset, El Capitan and Bridalveil falls are lit based on the direction of the sun. In one spring evening, when clouds gathered, the light kept changing dramatically causing a dramatic sunset that changed rapidly.
March in Yosemite Valley, and the late-day sun was hitting El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall, turning the granite a deep orange. The Merced River was running high, reflecting the warm light and the dark storm clouds overhead.
