Mesquite Sand Dunes in Death Valley National Park

Sunrise light illuminates the crests of three sand dunes, casting long shadows across their faces, with faint footprints visible on the sand.

December in Death Valley, and the low sun angle was already painting the dunes gold when I arrived. The wind was calm, and the only sounds were the crunch of my boots and the occasional raven overhead.
