Half dome in winter with snow in Ahwahnee meadows

In winter, Anwahnee meadows is filled with snow. Half dome is seen in this backdrop. Yosemite National Park is beautiful in all seasons, but it really comes alive in winter. During good snow years, there is snow everywhere in the meadows. It makes it dangerous to drive around, but if you can deal with icy roads, a world of wonder awaits. Winter in Yosemite Valley is always a gamble; sometimes the storms are relentless, sometimes the skies are clear. This morning, a few clouds clung to the summit of Half Dome, but the granite face was clear and catching the early light, reflecting in the shallow water of the meadow.
