Bullfrog Lake, Sierra Nevada Peaks

A calm mountain lake reflects a distant range of granite peaks under a dramatic, cloudy sky, with pine trees and boulders lining the near shore. This is Bullfrog lake.

I found this spot in the High Sierra on a backpacking trip in late summer. The clouds were building for an afternoon thunderstorm, and the light was shifting quickly across the peaks, creating deep shadows and bright highlights on the granite.
