View from Golden Staircase

A wide mountain valley is filled with a dense coniferous forest, flanked by steep, rocky slopes, under a bright blue sky with scattered white cumulus clouds.

I made this photograph on a clear summer afternoon in the High Sierra, looking down a valley towards a distant range of granite peaks. The sun was high, illuminating the rocky slopes and the vibrant green of the forest and undergrowth.
