A pier with a covered shelter extends into the ocean at Hanalei Bay, Kauai, under a sky filled with orange and gray clouds at sunset.

We arrived at Hanalei Bay just before sunset, hoping to catch the light on the water. The clouds were thick, but the sun broke through just enough to paint the sky with vibrant colors.
