Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge and the city

Coit Tower (also known as the Coit Memorial Tower) is a 210-foot (64 m) tower in the Telegraph Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, California, overlooking the city and San Francisco Bay. From Coit Tower, one can see most of the city up close. This photograph shows Alcatraz Island and Golden Gate bridge and everything in between.

From high up in San Francisco, the city sprawls out to the bay, dense with buildings. Alcatraz Island sits in the bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge stretches to the Marin Headlands under a dramatic cloudscape.
