Golden Gate Bridge from Fort Point
From its vantage point overlooking the spectacular Golden Gate, Fort Point defended the San Francisco Bay following California's Gold Rush through World War II. Its beautifully arched casemates display the art of 3rd system brick masonry and interacts gracefully with the Golden Gate Bridge. The view of the bridge from near Fort Point is very intimate.
I've photographed the Golden Gate from nearly every angle, but never quite like this. The tide was unusually high, and the waves were breaking right at the foot of the bridge's foundations. The sky was full of fast-moving cumulus clouds, making for a dynamic scene.
